Feature Wine Wall

For this piece we used revowall paneling and allowed it to acclimatize for two weeks prior to installation. the pieces come in 1/2’’ and 3/4’’ along with varying lengths. This gave a nice wooden textured look to the wall. Next were the wine shelves, this was a bit of a process. we found a design that the customers were pleased with and began modifying our base design. Eliminating any potential rolling and keeping everything structurally sound was just step one. we then experimented with different profiles and stains on several sample pieces. Finally we decided on puritan pine for a finish, which really pops against the darker toned wall. Now all that was left was to make 27 of these bad boys. After completion I was really interested to see how the customers would decided to complete the space. About a month later I received this photo with the space fully furnished and was filled with gratitude that I was able to be a part of this beautiful piece!

Floating Bed

Including:

• two floating laminated red gum and walnut nightstands with electrical outlets inside each

• Textured cedar shim headboard

• Cedar feature pieces

• LED lights for floating effect.

Shortly after moving into our new house we had purchased a new king size box-spring and mattress. No bed frame, No problem. The bed was on order and showing up in a few weeks, my girlfriend was going away for a week long course, I saw an opportunity. This was an ambitious build with working a full time job a week didn’t leave much time at all. While i wasn’t 100% finished i was still able to get it to a presentable stage and surprise the missus.

The build process:

contrary to the floating effect the bed is very much on the ground and locked in place. it consists of a base platform that is inset 1’ only on the three open sides. keeping the base a darker colour helps hide it behind the light. Because we have a box spring and a mattress i only used 2x6 for the base then a 2x10 for the bigger top with 2x4 studs inside for support. this allowed me to inset the box spring and conceal it. The head board had to be furred out from the wall in order to get the wiring to the back of the floating shelves and that ended up giving the effect that it is actually independent of any structural component no matter the angle you stand at in the room.
